Vintage poster on board: Alice in Wonderland at the British Library, 2015
This striking poster mounted on board was created for a 2015 exhibition at the British Library celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The British Library houses Lewis Carroll’s original manuscript, written at Oxford in 1862-64, which featured his own illustrations. This poster features a facsimile of Carroll’s manuscript, which was originally titled Alice’s Adventures Underground, set against a bold black backdrop.
What we love about it: there is an intimacy in reading an author’s words in their own handwriting. This is a beautiful reproduction from the British Library; you can clearly see the condition of the page and where Carroll has made edits to his work.
Dimensions: unframed
This poster is in good condition with some scratches/signs of wear in the corners. Note that detailed condition reports are available for all artworks upon request.
