E.C. Boswell, untitled, c. 1965-70
A lovely country road oil on board scene by Ontario artist Edward Campbell Boswell. Born in Seaforth, in Huron Country, Boswell turned to painting when serving in the First World War. Serving in Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean, Boswell says that he was “not able to express what I saw in words,” and discovered the expressive power of painting. He would create compositions from watercolours and grease pencils, which he sent him to his family. Upon returning to Ontario, Boswell began painting local landscapes, travelling down back roads, “in search of subject matter, when the spirit moves me.”
What we love about it: the peacefulness evoked by the changing leaves and the curving road, which suggests that this view continues indefinitely.
Dimensions: 56.5 x 56.5 cm framed
This painting is in excellent condition, note that detailed condition reports are available for all products upon request.
