Virginia Tyler, End of the Trail, c. 2010s

$35.00

Virginia Tyler is a Navajo artist who creates incredible sand paintings. Sand painting originates in Navajo medicinal ceremonies, where healers create symmetrical patterns by distributing dried pigments and sand with the fingers. Tyler and other artists have translated this ceremonial practice into an art form.

What we love about it: the magnificent turquoise colour and the feather motifs that repeat in both the primary action and around the border, bringing a sense of harmony and dynamism to the composition.

Dimensions:: 19.25 × 19.25 cm (7.5”)

This artwork and frame are in excellent condition. It is framed in a glassless frame which emphasizes the texture of the sand. The paper on the back of the frame has a tear. Included with the artwork is a certificate of authenticity.

Note: As settlers, we do not believe in profiting off of the work of Indigenous artists. When you purchase this artwork, 100% of what you pay will be donated to Indigenous-run not-for-profits. See our FAQ's for more information.
